MARGINS: Stay within video margins.
FONTS: Use large, bold, sans-serif fonts.
SIMPLICITY, LEGIBILITY, and HARMONY: Keep the slides as simple as possible.
BACKGROUNDS: Stay consistent in color and form.
GRAPHICS: Limit the number of colors used on a given slide. Two or three is often enough.
LINES: Do not use thin lines.
COLOR: Avoid the use of bright red, particularly for text.
VIDEO: Where possible, leave space for the producer to insert the faculty member or presenter.
PAPER OVERHEADS: Print slides in landscape mode.
VIDEO PRESENTATIONS: A VHS or SVHS tape must be recorded in SP (standard play) mode.

7. GRAPHICS: Limit the number of colors used on a given slide.

Clip art and graphics should also be simple. Limit your color palette, and limit clip art to a few images per slide. Graphics and charts should use bold, thick lines, and all associated text should follow the font guidelines explained above. Remember: video is a visual medium! Careful use of graphics, animations, and charts can add significantly to a student's enjoyment, engagement, comprehension, and retention of course materials. Take the time to get creative.
